The Largest Dam Inโฆ Nevada.
Weโre spending a couple nights in Vegas, so weโre taking one day to visit Hoover Dam.
There arenโt any records still held by this concrete giant.
Upon construction and for nearly two decades afterwards, it held firmly as the tallest dam in the world.
Today it ranks 2nd tallest in the United States and barely scrapes into the top 30 tallest in the world.
Regardless, itโs an American icon and on our list to see in Nevada!
Driving the Dam
We enter lake Mead National Recreation area
The first order of business is a drive across the dam.
Nothing too fancy hereโฆ just a leisurely drive across and backโฆ
technically entering Arizonaโฆ so I guess weโre seeing Hoover Dam in Arizona too.
Walking The Dam
After parking on the Nevada side, we walk around, enjoy the very uncrowded area, and take pictures.
Water levelโs looking pretty low today.

Careful not to fall !!
Overall itโs a pretty relaxing visit. We donโt plan to take any tours, just hang out and enjoy having the dam mostly to ourselves.
