We’ve been driving for a while, but we’re determined to make it to our next stop before calling it a night.
The town of Cawker City, Kansas may be small, but it holds a very large gem!
World’s Largest Ball of Sisal Twine
Its about midnight at this moment, but with the light of the gazebo and the van, we are able to still take pictures of this masterpiece.
This ball of twine has a modest beginning in the barn of Frank Stoeber. He, like many other farmers, would ball up his extra twine.
Throughout the years, his ball of twine grew to be 2.5 tons with 1,600,000 feet of twine rolled together!
This small town in Cawker City, actually holds an annual Twin-A-Thon in August, in which they add new twine to the ball!
While here, we notice there is a guest book inside the mailbox on the porch.
We eagerly fill in our information.
You can’t come to a monument such as this without touching it.
… and modelling with it!
If that’s what you call this?!?! 😜
After viewing this enormous ball of twine for several minutes ⏱…
we decide it’s time to go and get some sleep before our big day tomorrow.
The Next Morning
Since it is February, it is still Winter….
In the morning, we’re reminded how cold Winter nights and mornings can be….
Can you tell where we are, through the frost on the windows??
After defrosting the windows, we hit the road and see the typical scenery between Kansas and Nebraska!
