What is a drive through Louisiana without a stop in New Orleans?!?!
…It’s just a drive through Louisiana.
Our drive however, does involve a stop in this iconic city, and our adventure begins here…
The Riverwalk, Outlets!
Passing through the shopping center quickly, we head straight outside for the Mississippi River.
… and the crazy New Orleans statues
Yeah, maybe it’s what you’d expect.
French Quarter
Making our way into town, we dive straight into the French Quarter!
and make it into Jackson Square!
Not sure how long these Confederate statues will be around, we’re taking pictures with any that we see.
We find the Bar Rescue (TV show) bar!
Heading over to a Tropical Isle, we pick up a Hand Grenade
Drink, CHECK! ✅
Pick up some jewelry off a random wheelchair man….
Beads, CHECK!! ✅
Get our groove on!
Great live music, CHECK!!! ✅
It’s lookin’ like a New Orleans party!!
There’re still a couple more things needed to finish this night off (keeping in mind we still need to drive tonight…)
Dinner
We can’t call a New Orleans trip complete without some good seafood.
Best way to find good seafood?
Ask a local!!!!
Crawfish is what we want, and we’re told this is where to eat!
Can’t pass up the Gator Bites!!!
Happy hour leaves us with a wider assortment that we intend… I hope we can finish it all!!
Left to Right we have:
Parmesan Fried Oysters!
Gator Bites!
Poppy’s Voodoo Juice (it will cast a spell on you)!
Crawfish tails simmered in a spicy Cajun sauce!
We’re hanging out, chatting with the friendly bartenderand enjoying our food, when a tour group arrives filling the space behind us. Immediately we become fully engulfed in the tour guide’s story of murder which happened in the apartments above THIS restaurant!
A previous owner pushed his mistress from the upper balcony after learning she had been poisoning his wife! To this day, they are haunted by the ghost of his murdered mistress! 😱
Crawfish, CHECK!!!! ✅
Haunted Site, CHECK!!!!! ✅
We’ve just about done it all…
Unicorn? …Check? ✅
Stuffed, we waddle our way back over toward the river.
Desert!
It’s amazing how we feel so full until we’re offered dessert!!
This dessert is part of the New Orleans experience, and we just can’t pass it up.
Cafe Du Monde is the Original French Market Coffee stand since 1862
and the Beignets here are the best!
Finding an empty bench along the river, we enjoy live riverboat cruise music…
and our traditional New Orleans dessert.
Note: We would not recommend eating these in your car or any other place you would like to remain clean. Leaving the park bench, we see powdered sugar outlines of where we once sat!
It can’t get much better than this.
New Orleans…
Check!!! ✅
