During the recent eclipse, Carhenge saw over 4,000 visitors, including Nebraska’s own governor!
Chimney Rock is the most recognized landmark along the Oregon Trail. Travellers would rely on this rock to confirm their direction of travel is still correct.
What a relief it must have been for the travellers to know they were on the right course!!!
Scotts Bluff, Nebraska is a 19th-century landmark positioned on the Oregon and Mormon Trail.
The National Monument contains multiple bluffs located on the south side of the North Platte River.
For some states it’s a challenge to find something interesting to do… with both of us being fans of the TV series Hell On Wheels, visiting the Cheyenne Train Depot is interesting to us, regardless of the shows fictionality!
Who’s ready to ride an Alpine Coaster!?!?
Today, we’re at the longest Alpine (or mountain) coaster in North America.
We first experienced one of these while in Austria, and are stoked to experience one in America!
South Park fans might get a kick out of this one…
If you have no idea what we’re talking about check out episode 11 of season 7.
We’re in Colorado!!
Specifically, Garden Springs!
And the weather is…. TERRIBLE!
But that’s okay… We’re still going to push through our plans to keep on schedule, and first up is the World’s Largest Beetle!!
Doesn’t look that impressive?
Well how about now!!?!
Alright… I guess it is just a beetle on the side of the road, and it’s cold… so we’ll continue on.
Our next stop?
It’s a little anticlimactic…
We think there’s supposed to be something there…
At least the visitor center is nice!
Being literally the only ones in here, the friendly park volunteers chat with us and share that the balancing rock may have decent visibility.
That’s where we’re headed!!
The drive into the park looks pretty grim…
Just as we reach the rock, the fog clears!!… a little bit.
WHAT!?
There’s no one holding the rock!!
Quick! Before it falls!!
Mission accomplished! The rock survives another day!!
Today we’re spending time with some (somewhat) recently made friends.
Greg and Demante are the only must see attractions for us in this city, which is best known for its TV series about the manufacturing and distribution of Meth! (any Breaking Bad fans out there?)
Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Well… he’s dead.
Kinda…
White sands is the largest gypsum dunefield in the world! It’s sands engulf 275 square miles of New Mexico’s desert.
The sand is thought to be what’s left behind from the evaporation of a great ocean about 70 million years ago!
Shortly before going on this trip, we were deployed for 6 months. While we were deployed, Kameron, Kali’s youngest brother was deployed as well!
We have not been able to see Kameron in over a year, so we are pretty excited for this opportunity to visit him and see how he has established himself in Arizona.
It’s an early start to our day as we prepare for the climb out of the Grand Canyon! Reviews we’ve read online have warned hikers not to attempt this hike if they are not able to run 10 miles a day….
We definitely aren’t running 10 miles a day, and have only recently begun taking on more difficult hikes!!
This could be interesting!!! 😧
We have quite an adventure planned today! Our goal is to hike to the bottom of the GRAND CANYON!!!
Reading several blogs and informational sites, hiking down and up looks to be pretty strenuous.
Many people have died hiking in the Grand Canyon! 😱
If anyone’s interested in that, take a look at this gruesome map!
Located on the upper Antelope Canyon, we are about to embark on an adventure through one of the most visited slot canyons in the Southwest.
Clouds have filled the sky, but we are hoping they hold their tears for us to enjoy this tour through the Navajo territory.
Pulling into a crowded parking lot, near the town of Page, we are excited to take a short stroll to the views at Horseshoe Bend. This overlook of the Colorado River offers a breathtaking view like no other!
