On The Road: Day 69 – A Little Bad Luck

13,500 miles traveled so far!
Today we’re cruising through the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Virginia is for lovers!… apparently.

McAfee Knob

This morning we’re up early and ready to hike out to McAfee Knob for the sunrise.

McAfee Knob is one of the most photographed spots along the Appalachian Trail.

Unfortunately it’s snowing… quite heavily.

And using our better judgement, we decide against the 2 hour hike out to the knob.

Disappointed, we turn back to the van and start making our way across Virginia.

Blue Ridge Parkway

Even in winter conditions and despite the fog the parkway is beautiful.

This national parkway runs for 469 miles through Virginia and North Carolina and follows mostly the Blue Ridge, a major mountain chain that is park of the Appalachian Mountains.

Anyway, we’re cruising along and BAM!!

Not a whole lot we can do about that. So, we turn around and hit the main freeway. No scenic byway for us today.

At least the drive back to the freeway is just a cool looking.
