Arches: Part 3 – Campsites & Entry Signs

We’re spending two nights in Arches!

Today is day two!
Despite the weather, our first day in the park was amazing!!

Rousing this morning we find the coldest weather we’ve had to endure in the van. At 10°F, it’s pretty chilly!

A Chilly Morning

Even with the sun up, ice clings to the van windows.

It’s a good thing we have this little buddy… Mr Heater Buddy! He sure helps warm things up.

Despite the initial cold, the sun is out and the temperature starts to improve.

While waiting for icy trails to thaw, we chip away at the list of van maintenance.

Meanwhile, here’s our camp pad!!

This is far more spacious and private than when we arrived at Zion.

With the bitter cold, it feels like the entire park has emptied… and it actually mostly has!

To keep ourselves warm, we collect the abandoned firewood…

Not a bad collection!
We should get a pretty nice campfire tonight!! 🙂

To The Visitor Center!

As the day warms, we head for the Visitor Center to pick up our postcard and check out what’s there!

On the way, we catch glimpses of formations we missed the day before!

First there’s a camel!

then a monkey!

and lastly, just some pretty scenery.

At the Visitor Center, we snap our park entry photos.

Hiking to Delicate Arch!

Before heading back to the campsite, we catch an evening hike to the Delicate Arch.

If you haven’t already, you can check out our Delicate Arch hike here!

Traditional Camping Activities

Returning to our campsite, we enjoy a warm fire (and thankfully a warmer night).

Complete with hotdogs!

Marshmallows!!

and lastly, some S’mores!!!

Tomorrow we’re leaving Utah and heading for Arizona, so we’re going to make the most of our last night in Arches!
